In response to the Federal Furlough, The Hebrew Free Loan Association of Greater Washington (HFL) is proud to provide zero-interest emergency loans to qualified Jewish borrowers in need across the District, Maryland and Northern Virginia who are Federal employees and financially impacted by the furlough.
HFL is offering emergency loans up to $1,500 to help with short term lost wages. These loans will be processed and finalized on an expedited basis, typically within 3 business days.
Repayments terms: Repayments are expected in full within two weeks of the borrower receiving backpay. If the borrower does not receive backpay, repayments will begin two weeks after the government resumes operations at $50/month for 12 months and $100/month thereafter.
Larger loan options: If you are in need of a larger loan (up to $25,000), please review our loan guidelines here and consider applying for a traditional HFL loan.
Process:
Loan applications will be reviewed in the order they are received by HFL staff and board.
If approved, HFL staff will send loan documents to the applicant within 3 business days of receipt of the loan application.
Once the loan documents, including promissory note, are signed and returned, HFL will send the money to the borrower electronically.
